Your Life Has Purpose

it’s only just begun

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. —Romans 8:28

You have a purpose. You are not here by accident. And that purpose is found in God’s purposes.

You were made by Him.
You were made for Him.
And, you’ve been sustained by Him.

In fact, as you look back there may be times when you’ve thought “How did I survive that situation?!”

That was God’s doing. He is involved in your life and has been from the beginning. Listen to how the scriptures describe your future:

For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. —Romans 8:29–30

If you are alive and reading this, you’re here for a purpose. Your life isn’t over. God has something much bigger He wants to accomplish in you: He is making you more and more like his Son, Jesus.

And even the difficulties of this life can’t be compared to what He’ll be working in you in the future.

So hold on. Follow Christ. Ask Him to reveal His purposes to you.

Then watch what He does.

And why not start this week by joining us this Sunday at CenterPoint? We’ll be continuing in our Move series, 10AM PST onsite in Tacoma, or online on our CenterPoint FB page. Either way, we’ll see you then.

Love you,
Pastor Bill

Get Out Of The Boat

remember: failure isn’t optional

Get out of the boat. Face your fears. Fail. Learn. Adjust. Try again. And watch God do more than you can imagine. —Craig Groeschel

Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
“Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
—Matthew 14:28–31

When Jesus calls you to step out of the boat, he has your back. Every step of the way.

But keep in mind as you do, failure isn’t optional. We’ll all fail at some point. When we do, one of two things will happen: you’ll either learn and move ahead, or you’ll quit and give in. The good news is that Peter didn’t throw in the towel when he failed—he kept following Jesus, learning from the Master.

Never forget: When Jesus calls you to do something beyond your ability, he has your back. Every step of the way.

So step out in faith.

You’re In God’s Family

it’s not what you know, it’s who you know

You are not who others say you are. You are who God says you are. —Craig Groeschel

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. —1 John 3:1

Relationship is everything.

You are a child of God. When you began following Jesus, you were born into God’s family. A new birth. A new beginning.

Don’t allow the opinions of anyone to convince you otherwise.

And don’t allow even your own ideas to cloud this reality.

You are not who others think you are. You’re not even the sum of who you think you are.

You are a child of God and everything is new. You have a new start, a new life and a new destiny.

Let that truth sink deep into your being. Meditate on that and allow it to inform everything you do today.

And because you belong to Christ, nothing in this world can touch that. It is secured in heaven.

You are a child of God.
